A little bit about me and my teaching philosophy…

As a movement and mindfulness educator, I prioritize “Svadhyaya” or “Self Study”. I’m committed to and passionate about helping people connect with themselves, through their bodies. Whether your focus is pelvic floor and core health, enhanced mobility or stress reduction, in our work together, I’ll blend modalities (yoga, Pilates, somatics, and mindfulness techniques) to provide a holistic approach to help you find the right path toward health and healing.

I first discovered yoga and mindfulness practices while looking for tools to combat stress and overwhelm, initially encountering body-mind practices during my acting studies at university. Yoga became a lifeline, and later, working as a “play-aid” assisting therapists with early intervention cases, I began teaching yoga to children, which led to the creation of "Jodi the Yogi," a yoga and music program for preschoolers that reached thousands of children through in person events and youtube.

Travelling around NYC working with children was increasingly demanding and I found that teaching adults became a grounding natural outlet for exploration and connection. The better I got at helping others understand their bodies and reduce stress, the more I began to understand my own. Mindfulness training and practices helped me to navigate the fast past city I lived in and I shared these teaching at corporate companies, startups and non-profits through meditation sessions and Mindfulness workshops.

A turning point came when recurring pelvic pain from past surgeries became a focal point that was impossible to ignore. Like so many women, there were some significant encounters I had in conventional medical contexts that left me feeling disempowered.  Determined to find the root cause of my discomfort I ventured into the world of therapeutics, specializing in pelvic floor health. I devoured as much information as I could, studying with a Pelvic Floor PT to become an interdisciplinary pelvic health specialist, taking a therapuetic based Pilates training at the Kinected School, and working privately with yoga therapist and teacher, Juliana Mitchell.

I began teaching Pelvic Floor Health workshops and working one-on-one with clients, later joining the faculty of Juliana’s 300-hour Teacher Training. The consistent feedback from these events and sessions has been that this work helps people feel more confident and less shame about their bodies. Participants become more comfortable discussing women’s health issues and leave feeling empowered to seek the help they need. While the positive physical impact of strengthening, stetching and mobilizing is undeniable, the biggest change I see in my clients is in how they learn to connect and prioritze themselves throughout every stage of life.
